Milk and Honey by Rupi Kaur

of course i want to be successful

but i don’t crave succes for me

i need to be successful to gain

enough milk and honey

to help those around

me succeed

p.199

I honestly don’t know if I can put into words how much portions of this collection mean to me.

Having gone through my own fair share of abusive relationships and tough times, I found a real sense of healing and happiness in these pages. It can be heavy at parts and certainly triggering — I don’t recommend reading it in public unless you’re comfortable with strangers watching you cry.

In short, it’s a very raw and relatable series of poems. Regardless of your background, personal experiences, or beliefs, there’s something in between its covers that will speak to you — I promise.

for you to see beauty here

does not mean

there is beauty in me

it means there is beauty rooted

so deep within you

you can’t help but

see it everywhere

p.192
