I read this collection of poems and narrative while visiting the Tattered Cover bookstore in Denver. It took me about an hour and, despite the limited amount of time it took to read, provided a much needed and wonderful escape from what I had going on. It had been a pretty rough day but the eloquent words penned in this book were oddly uplifting.
I’ve never read much Robert Frost beyond “The Road Not Taken” poem itself. You know the one I’m talking about:
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, and I —
I took the road less traveled by
And that has made all the difference.
Now that I have, I can’t recommend his works enough. They aren’t particularly happy and many have themes and lessons that I find elusive but the true poetry is outstanding in its own ways and rights. Even his darker pieces have an uplifting feel to them.
What’s your favorite Frost poem? Let me know in the comments below or through any media you prefer (always @hollyandoates)!
Cheers!
