Okay, I’m not going to write extensively on this one because I think most people have some understanding of what Animal Farm is all about. All I will say is that I can’t believe I hadn’t read this book sooner. (I mean the actual book, not its Sparknotes.)
George (or Eric, whichever you prefer) is truly one of the most pervasive authors in English literature. His essays, poetry, and fiction are studied extensively and almost everyone in the English speaking world knows his name. He may be a little hyped up — his work isn’t flowery or extravagantly beautiful IMHO — but his stories and ideas are certainly interesting.
The themes that characterize Animal Farm are still evident in today’s world — politically, socially, and so on. If you haven’t read any it yet, or sort of did but didn’t really, you should. Not only will it give you the feeling that you’re educated and a little cultured but it may broaden your worldview.
